Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enable iCloud sync?

Daily Markdown automatically uses iCloud when it's enabled on your Mac. Go to System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → iCloud Drive and make sure it's turned on. Your notes will sync across all your Macs signed into the same Apple ID.

Where are my notes stored?

Your notes are stored in two locations:

Can I edit past notes?

By design, only today's note is editable. Past notes become read-only to preserve the authenticity of your daily journal. You can always view and copy text from past notes.

How do I use Markdown formatting?

Daily Markdown supports common Markdown syntax:

You can also use the toolbar buttons or keyboard shortcuts (⌘B for bold, ⌘I for italic, etc.).

What are writing streaks?

A streak counts consecutive days you've written a note. Write every day to build your streak. Miss a day and it resets to zero. Your longest streak is saved so you can try to beat your record!

How do I pin a note?

Right-click (or Control-click) on any date in the calendar that has a note, then select "Pin" from the context menu. Pinned notes appear in the Pinned tab for quick access.

Can I export my notes?

Your notes are stored as standard JSON files with Markdown content. You can access them directly from the storage location mentioned above. We're considering adding built-in export features in a future update.

How do I delete all my data?

Open Daily Markdown → Settings (⌘,) → Data tab → Click "Clear All Data". This will permanently delete all your notes and reset settings.
